What we do not ask for

No account, name, email, phone number, street address, date of birth, exact age, gender, contacts or social login. Deshi does not use GPS, your IP address or any other way to work out where you are, and does not fingerprint your device.

What stays on your device

While you stamp foods, your selections are kept in your browser so a refresh does not lose progress. A random anonymous identifier is also stored in your browser. Clearing your site data removes both.

What is saved when you finish

When you reveal your passport, your food selections are saved so your result page works. That page opens only for you, in the browser you used. Anyone else who opens its link is taken to the start page. What other people see is only what you choose to share: a card you download, or a link that leads to the start page.

Context you share before your reveal

Before your reveal, Deshi asks three broad questions: the country and city you are based in now, the district or region you most associate with childhood or home, and your age group (a band such as 25–34, never a birth date). We use them to understand how food and culture differ across places and generations, in aggregate.

They are saved against your anonymous Deshi identifier, not a name or contact detail, and reused so you can confirm them in one tap next time. A copy is kept with each result as it was when you finished. Public result cards and links do not show them.

Dhaka Survival

Dhaka Survival saves your answers to the 56 scenarios so your result page works, together with the same broad context described above. It never asks for addresses, routes, workplaces, health details or political views.

Analytics

We count a small set of actions, such as starting or completing a passport, to improve the experience. These events carry no personal details.
